Two weeks ago I bought the main book for the WWII naval game "Victory at Sea." It's very easy to learn and a lot of fun, although it has a fair amount of book-keeping. The books also come with sheets of ship tokens that you can photocopy, cut out, and play with quickly. No models required!
Last Sunday, Warren got very... excited about the prospect of Naval battles; and Richard was also interested. Since Ron and I know the rules and have (soon to be) two of the books, we're going to bring them to HT on Sunday to play a demo game with Warren, Richard, and anyone who would like to join in.
Would anyone want to meet earlier so we could get a game of VaS in before doing our usual Flames-of-War-apalooza?
Now to Warren and Richard: What navies would you want for the game? I assume, Warren, you will call dibs on the Kriegsmarine. So which do you want , Richard? We already have the Royal Navy, U.S. Navy, Imperial Japanese Navy, Regia Maria (Italians), and the French Navy. Ron just ordered the expansion book that has Russians, so we could get the tokens ready for them if you want.

I would be interested in a demo game. I will be there early as well so as not to cut into the FOW time. Have to go with the US fleet. I will bring my axis and allies minis to use as well.

Sounds good! How early, though?
The plan Ron and I had was to play a simple game between the two of us with you guys observing/ putting in any tactical input you want. Since I've never done a demo game, is this good or would you rather play it out with us guiding you along?

Warren... have you already bought the entire Kriegsmarine?
nice models, though. great choice of different models. many of them are in VaS and some of those models aren't! despite being a tad expensive, those could really make the game pop on the table. now my imagination of big guns bombarding tiny, helpless destroyers will be in 3D...

I would buy the models if I start playing. The paper ships don't do it for me.

I would love to have the models, but money is limited. The paper ships aren't that bad to play with. They're free (which is huge), and they work great after you laminate them.

So here I am bumping my own thread I had the idea that since we'll be spending all Saturday playing in the team tournament, does anyone want to take a break from FoW on Sunday and learn to play Victory at Sea? I can get multiple fleet lists ready to try out if anyone is interested.
