So I revealed it in all its degenerate glory on Sunday getting a game in with Warren, and as usual he was right. It isn't as bad a list as I thought. I just finished a game against Cdebeers tiger list and I gotta say I was pretty impressed. We played free for all (no ambushes and no defensive battle or prepared positions so my Spetznaz platoon wondered where the fun was). I finally decided to obey hen and chicks instead of making mad dashes to the objectives and slowly advanced and fired. He deployed tigers on my right where I left a company of 5 T-34/85s and 3 T-34s and a platoon on my left, where my greatest chance of objective seizure was. The 85s on the right did a magnificent job of staying hull down behind a hill, even though there was an embankment between us so i guess that wasn't necessary. While exchanging fire with the Tigers, some rough rolls not only killed a tiger and bailed another, they attempted to flee. The 1iC was there to re roll and failed to motivate them enough, huzzah three tigers down without taking a single casualty (by turn three)! On the left things werent so peachy. A misdeployment on my part made my Sappers have to move across open ground behind the T-34s to dig in on an objective. CJs 15 cms were sounding off like the fourth of July killing two T-34s (one 76s and an 85), bailing out another 76 as it crossed the river and really giving my poor sappers the works. after several pins the sappers made it to the objective and dug in. As the rest of the T-34/85s (six by this point, five and the 1iC) moved across the river the ISU-122s those gloriously appreciated tools of the soviet union killed two tigers. The worst was yet to come. The 15cms werent out of the fight and kept me bailed for two turns in open ground not 16" from the objective. To add to the suffering of the poor tanks the last tiger was out for revenge! Threatening verbally (this is something I actually did, just ask CJ) to bring Dedov if these cowards didn't start passing some morale checks, I was able to spiritually convince the toy soldiers to get back in the darned tanks. Finally the last cat was silenced though not before knocking me down to three tanks remaining, 4 if you count the 1iC. We ended on turn six in a draw with the T-34s on the right moving towards my rightmost objective and the 4 remaining T-34/85s contesting the leftmost objective against some Quad 2cm anti-air tracks (they were well hidden behind some buildings and I never got a clear shot. CJ had some under par rolling but even with his saves on statistic results I was really impressed with what my T-34/85s could accomplish even at long range. I ended up with a 3 to 1 minor victory as per the Fair fight rules, Urah Pobeda, Tovarischen!! I am now off to a meat and potatoes dinner, being a good Podpolkovnik has its advantages!
