Not sure how to say this any simpler so here goes..
I may not be around during the weekends much. The VA told me two weeks ago that my retirement pay and medical benefits were being terminated effective the end of February. Some bull about my disability only being good for 5 years from the date of my medical discharge and that since I didn't put in the paperwork to request reevaluation, my benefits will cease until the paperwork has been processed and I've been reevaluated as still being disabled. This is what happens when the military tells you one thing, the VA is told something else, and no one tells the disabled service member until it's too late.
Most of you know I hate my current job that requires me to answer phones 24/7 including all holidays which does not offer any benefits of any kind, simply deducts my payroll for taxes.
So that said I wrote a friend who works at US Training Centers main offices in Mynock North Carolina. A recruiter from their offices called me this morning and wants me to come up and visit their facilities this week for interviews for a position that will require a crazy schedule that covers mainly weekends.
I'm not thrilled about working for them but they do pay well and do offer medical and life. If I'm offered a position that does include said benefits and decent pay I'm going to take it and commute to work.

Yeah but if my disability kicks back in I can't work for the government.

Are you sure?
I would check on that - I have a disabled Vet who works with me......
I don't know your situation, but you may want to check.....if you want, I can check with the admin guy....

Well I got offered the position but it requires traveling to all of their locations, not just the main office. I'm pondering it now but doubt I'll take it.
Guest, whoever you are, ask your admin guy what someone rated at 105% disability can work for the Government please. I'm told at 100% + (for those asking yes they rate higher than 100%) that we're not suppose to work since we're considered completely disabled. So I'm kind of confused. Thanks.

I previously sent you an email ......
I have never heard of 105% - so maybe I am wrong - learn something new every day (my friends says that can occur).
I will check for you tomorrow. Also, I would check with the VA and/or DAV. Maybe because it is over 100% could be the reason. I tried to see if I could find it on the VA site - no luck. Normally, you would be a 10 point veteran - but the 105% is new to me - so let me check - you could be correct.
I am talking with my friend (now in fact) and he said that you should still be able to work but the VA might cut some of the disability back - he was not sure and recommended that you call the VA at 1 800 827-1000. That way they can tell you exactly what will happen and if there are any restrictions. He said to get their answer in writing. Hope this helps...
and you can call me....Roy.....(line from a movie)

Sorry never received your email and if it went to my spam box I honestly didn't check it before hitting delete. Everything I've said has come from the VA reps who were/are working the case file on my disability at the regional office down by the hospital in Decatur. I understand about the point system for hiring veterans completely. However what I'm trying to find out and what the VA can't tell me is if I take a federal job and they renew my disability what would happen? Offset the check like they do all other disabled vets who are rated less than 100% sure, great, but how do you offset over 100%? The VA seems to think I'd basically be paying them at that point or I wouldn't receive disability at all. DVA, AL, VFW disability reps all seem to concur trying to get a job when you're supposed to be medically retired would be pointless.
The financial side however isn't what I'm worried about it's the medical benefit side. How do you kick a guy out of active federal service for cancer and then after 5 years while in the middle of treating a relapse say "Hey we're stopping treatment because your 5 year disability review wasn't renewed and it'll take 30-180 days to get you back in the system. Good luck until then."?
If you're at the tournament just look for the middle aged kid who is frustrated with trying to remember the rules correctly. Or the fat white guy wearing the black hat with american flag on it.
