....Yep..I played the twin Sherman 76 companies of doom. It was naaaasty...Eric was running his Panther...umm...swarm? in cauldron. He was defending...There were 8 of those wiley cats in the middle of a stream laden board....
Turn one: He attempts the bum rush ambush to kill a platoon of 76's. Result? One dead 76, one dead 2 I/c....one bailed 76.
My turn...Reinforcements arrive. Yeahhhh! Three Sherman 75's. I maneuver. Three dead panthers (flank armor? Against a stabilized 76? Not a chance)...one bailed...Other side of the table...manuever and long range shots as I close the distance...carefully...stalking the wiley panthers.
Turn two: He fails a bail in...drat! no protected ammo! He maneuvers with his second platoon....kills one 76 from the already banged up platoon....I pass morale and stand fast.
My turn two: Say goodbye Mr. Bailed Panther. No more 2 I/C! More maneuvering...Panthers are getting as nervous as cats in a room full of rocking chairs!
Turn three: Aww...no German reinforcements. He manuevers and shoots. Bails a 76.
My turn three: My tanks maneuver and manage to cap his 1 I/C...now the envelopment begins. He's got three very skeered kitties right now..and a whole lotta open ground to cross.
Turn four: German Reinforcements arrive! His AA tracks try to cap the 2 I/C for my second company...bounce and run away off the table edge using stormtrooper. He manages to cap a third 76 from the banged up company. I pass morale....Yeah Me!
My turn four: My last platoon arrives and double times out of sight to flank those poor poor kitties. My other 75's are working their way around to get some long range flank shots. Everyone misses or bounces...Hey..you can't always tag them. I am in firm possession of both objectives though.
Turn five: More shooting...he brews up a 75 from the first company...He's chasing that company's 75 platoon hard...fails to stormtrooper. Gets his nebs as reinforcements...they promptly enter and leave..
My turn five: Victory is at hand boys...the envelopment continues. More long range fire...Nothing sticks...Drats!
Turn six: Wants the 75's...but can't get at them..so he chases down the other 2 I/c and blows him to holy hannah. He gives me possession of both objectives...
That was a ton of fun...really...lots of tense moving and shooting..
Thanks Eric
