Hey guys, I am trying to finish up my British Airlanding Company. I am getting the general idea of how to play them but advice is always helpful. I have a list that I am fairly comfortable with but I am still having trouble in the arti and tanks of the enemy.
The list is British Airlanding Fearless Vet. from D-1
HQ 3 PIATs -125
Airlanding Platoon 2 Squads -230
Airlanding Platoon 2 Squads -230
Airlanding Machine-Gun Platoon 2 Sections-160
Airlanding Mortar Platoon 3 sections-245
Airlanding Anti-Tank Platoon 1 section- 95
Airlanding Heavy Anti-Tank Platoon-155
Armoured Platoon and Firefly(Confident Trained)-280
Priority Air Support(Typhoon)- 220
Total- 1740
I have only been able to test out air support once and I am still debating if it is worth it. Other than thant i am able to combat attach the platoons and set up a viable defence with the 17 pounders hopefully in ambush. These lists are not the best for attacking because of the sheer lack of men and lack of mobility. Fate is twisted, however, because out of the half dozen or so games I have played, the majority of them i have attacked. Blast those always defend lists and those
I am a little more comfortable with the three Airlanding Platoon list and dropping the Air. That list would look like this.
HQ 3 PIATs -125
Airlanding Platoon 2 Squads-230
Airlanding Platoon 2 Squads-230
Ailranding Platoon 2 Squads-230
Airlanding Machine-Gun Platoon 2 Sections-160
Airlanding Mortar Platoon 3 sections-245
Airlanding Anti-Tank Platoon 1 section- 95
Airlanding Heavy Anti-Tank Platoon-155
Armoured Platoon and Firefly(Confident Trained)-280
Total- 1750
I know I will not run into much Air from Axis even though i could drop an extra PIAt to arm the Shermans in the Armoured platoon with AA MGs from those sportatic Air.
I am still a begginer and have not been able to test eather list effectivly and find the chinks. From the games I have played, however, I find trouble with mobile AT other than the PIATs and just the lack of men. I have no problem with fighting Infantry but Armour is just a pain in the but to fight against.
These lists are not the best for attacking because of the sheer lack of men and lack of mobility. I know that i shoud always prepare for the worst, but I am not sure how to make this a balanced list for defending and attacking. Attacking with this list is not fun. Fate is twisted because out of the half dozen or so games I have played, the majority of them I have attacked. Blast those always defend lists and those infantry companies packing tigers and other fun ideas. It could also be my crapy first dice rolls. Well, I guess it's time to microwave my dice again. That will teach them to make me attack...
