Hi, my name is John, and I'm a new player to Flames of War. I'm posting this excerpt from my first post, having noticed the new player area AFTER having posted already.
About me
My name is John, and I've been coming up a lot on Sundays to watch you guys play. I'm 43 and I've been playing war games for many years now, most notably Warhammer Fantasy Battles and to a lesser extent Warhammer 40K. So far, I've played only 3 games of Flames of War, all against John Ross, who is an excellent teacher. Though I'm no expert, I am a reasonably good player and I have a very good grasp of the rules. I've been studying them for a couple of months now and while I'm no expert, I'm not exactly beginning from scratch either.
About My Army
I'm playing a late war American Rifle Company. I can field up to about 1750 points. I only have 3 units completely painted and based. The rest of my army is unpainted, though it is somewhat assembled. I have, for example, temporarily glued infantry soldiers to bases in order to be representative of what they will be once completed. My point here is that my army will not be fully painted, and though there are no proxies, much of the army still has a long way to go towards being completed. (For example, my artillery guns are glued to their bases, but the crews are not also on those bases as they are being painted).
In summary, I felt I had to warn you upfront about my lack of experience in this particular game as well as the unpainted condition of my army. All of that having been said, would anyone enjoy playing a game Thursday night?
Thanks in advance for your consideration. You can post in reply here, or email me at claudius16309@yahoo.com.
