I finally, grudgingly, dropped the 40 bucks for a Fortress Europe book. I gotta say, while perusing the various armies I was pretty satisfied with the purchase. The new format is just so much friendlier and includes more basic upgrades, special lists are gone but, hey. Back to the topic at hand I've developed my new Panzerkompanie.
HQ 2 Panzer IV 190
Combat Platoons 3 Panzer IV 285 3 Panzer IV 285 3 Panzer IV 285
Support Platoons Rocket Battery 3 nebelwerfers 125
Tank-Hunter platoon 2 Jagdpanthers 470
Grenadier platoon 2 Grenadier squads
No scouts or anti-air kinda weird for me, but at least I now have an answer to heavier armor in the Jagdpanthers. Grenadier platoon basically just sits on objectives to hold them.

Also I could switch to two panzer IV platoons with 4 panzer IVs each and then drop the grenadiers for a full size panzergrenadier (not gepanzerte) platoon then kampfgruppe the 2iC and two panzers for three groups of three panzer IVs

Hadn't thought of bringing down the Panzer Mk IVs by two, but then the Jagdpanthers keep the tank count at 11 and strengthens rather than dilutes the pool. I'll play with it a bit, but I like that there is room for the Pumas, after the ambush I pulled on Jubelt (spelling? sorry man) I feel naked without scouts. I hadn't thought of panzergrenadier pioneers.

What format do list histories need to be in for tourneys? I'm thinking of using Lehr but they didn't have jagdpanthers, in fact the only place I can reliably trace Jagdpanthers to during the war was in Normany in the 654 Schwere Panzerjaeger Abteilung. Any suggestions for sources on Jagdpanthers?

It's been my personal experience they're only looking for a general history of the unit you wish to represent. It's where you can use fiction to blur with history in the game by adding support elements the unit you're writing about may or may not have had assigned or attached at one time.
You can also make up a unit and it's history if you wanted as long as it doesn't sound unrealistic. I.E. 492nd S.S. Panzer Pioneer Battalion
