.List 1 How are you buying Stan Hollis into a guard company? I would drop the 4.2 inch mortars and invest in a 4th rifle platoon there is no such thing as to few boots.
List 2 looks good but I would drop the 3 inch mortars to invest in the 4th rifle platoon also. The other option is to juggle the list to ten platoons by dropping the 3inch tubes and investing in Uni carriers. Once you do that you can find something else cheap and useful in the Brit list fairly easy.
The trick to remember with an infantry army is you will start most missions defending and be at 1/2 strength. You will never deploy more than 1 template weapon on the board in an 8 platoon army. The other thing to remember is you will win or die based on your infantry so why cut yourself short? Template weapons are to fickle to make them your the force's backbone. The only time you will be keeping less than 2 infantry on board is if your playing against an armored force. Then you will be keeping infantry, crocs, 6lber, and 6lber up.

I think you should pratice with this one for atleast 6 games or so before you change it. It feels right.
